Sea Life Center

Today Sarah and I went to the Alaska Sea Life Center here in Seward. They had tons of great exhibits and amazing animals, but by far my favorite was the Stellar sea lion. He swam around the tank gracefully, and at one point he even jumped out of the water and then dived back in. I don't have much time, so here are some photos of some of the things I saw:

Kayaking Thumb Cove

Today Sarah and I went kayaking in Thumb Cove in Ressurection Bay through a local guiding company called Miller's Landing. We decided on a shorter trip, which was supposed to leave at 11 am and end at 2 pm. It was a gray and rainy day and the outfitter was incredibly unprofessional, providing practically no instruction and no guidance on the water. It was clear the guide was upset when we arrived at the drop off place and he had to lead another trip. Despite that, and the nasty weather, we still had a nice time on the water. We saw what appeared to be an orca whale in the water, as well as a bald eagle some swimming salmon. In some places, the water was an amazing emerald green color, and it was a very calm and lovely paddle.

Out and About in Seward

I got to Seward on Saturday, and have been hanging out and exploring the area with Sarah ever since. We've walked to a beautiful waterfall, admired all the lovely wildflowers around town, and checked out the small boat harbor. I don't have much time, so here are some photos of what we've been up to:
